"Fragment of the Colours of the 28th Regt. Given in 1830. Went to Australia 1835. Brought from India 1848. Replaced by new ones 1850". This is the note written to accompany the fragment by Major Samuel Rawson (15.11.1819-16.8.1882) of the 28th North Gloucestershire Regiment. The first date should probably have read 1832.
